My mission left an indelible mark on me. I could never regret my mission. I could never not love it. I do love it with all my heart I am so grateful for it. And it is also true that my mission was extremely painful.

It started with a simple friend request on Facebook, and it ended with him saying we were married in God’s eyes and him sending me death threats for being unfaithful to him.

While the stalking happened for a year or so, I didn’t realize I’d been being stalked for a long time or realize why for even longer.

What we cannot do is ignore reality, rewrite history, blame survivors, excuse or downplay what the person in the wrong did. We cannot pretend that the bad thing didn’t happen. We can’t excuse the behavior. And we should offer sympathy for the survivors. We should listen and understand the pain and sorrow.
